Form,Content Configuration,and Communication Effectiveness:A Study on the Chinese Websites of Embassies of Belt and Road Partner Countries in China

Abstract

Against the macro backdrop of the deepening development of the Belt and Road Initiative, this study selects the Chinese websites of 67 partner countries' embassies in China as research samples, conducting analysis along three core dimensions: website operational status, content construction quality, and page visual design. At the basic operational level, the sample websites generally possess sound infrastructure, all having independent IP addresses, with the vast majority obtaining "official website" certification from search engines. However, some websites still have room for improvement in user experience details such as loading speed. At the content construction level, although most countries maintain a certain update frequency, there exists significant lag and imbalance; individual countries' information updates are seriously delayed, affecting the timeliness of information and service functions. At the visual design level, websites exhibit highly patterned characteristics; the high convergence in color and layout (such as the widespread adoption of blue color schemes and top-bottom structural layouts) results in low visual recognition, and there is a general lack of digital presentation and innovative integration of national cultural characteristics. In response to the above findings, this paper proposes optimization strategies from three levels—content, design, and interaction: first, strengthening the timeliness and service orientation of content by establishing normalized update mechanisms; second, encouraging differentiation and localized innovation in visual design to enhance cultural recognition; third, expanding the interactive functions of websites to improve user engagement and immersion.
